The Cougars controlled the game from the opening tip.

Cleveland State (11-8, 7-5) was up by 22 points at halftime, allowing only 21, and didn't let up in the second half securing an 82-54 win over Jackson State (3-16, 2-12) today.

"Solid work today," head coach Rafael Howard said. "The guys played hard on both sides of the ball."

Overall the Cougars outshot the Green Jays by over 20 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 43-26.

"Controlling the glass and limiting their second chance shots helped," Howard said. "Everybody chipped in rebounding the ball."

Julius King, Jr. scored a game high 24 points moving him into fourth in the conference in scoring. King also led the team with eight rebounds. Hasani Rivera and Kameron Clark each put in 14 points with Caleb Chapman adding another 12.

The Green Jays had three players in double figures with Nehemiah Ausley scoring a team high 12 points.

With the win the Cougars complete the two-game series sweep of Jackson State on the regular season.

Cleveland State are winners of their last two and look to bring that momentum into their next time on the court this Monday hosting second place Roane State (17-6, 10-3).

"We talk about energy, effort, and toughness as important aspects of winning," Howard said. "I thought we showed that today, and we'll watch the film and make a few changes as we prepare for Roane State on Monday."

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
