Cleveland State couldn't amount enough of a comeback to overtake the Chargers.
The Cougars (12-12, 8-9) were down 15 at halftime and couldn't produce enough offense to overcome Columbia State (22-8, 12-6), losing 69-55.
Duvall Price led all Cougars with 13 points while Kameron Clark had 12 and Hasani Rivera added 10. Cleveland State overall shot 32 percent from the field, 12 percent lower than their season average.
The team's two top scorers Julius King, Jr. and Thaddeus Johnson were each out for the game due to injury. The Cougars have one more game before the conference post season begins and are hoping to get one or both of their scoring leaders back in the lineup.
The final game of the regular season will be at Dyersburg State Community College (2-22, 1-16) in a make-up game this Monday with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
