COUGARS SWEEP RAIDERS; TO HOST PLAYIN GAME ON TUESDAY

The Cougar baseball team swept away the Raiders of Roane State on Friday afternoon by scores of 8-3 and 11-1.  They ended up with the #4 seed in the East and will host the same Raiders on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a playin game in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Baseball Tournament.  The winner of that game will advance to play Walters State on Friday in a best of three series.

Daniel Crabtree was the story in the first game as he held the Raiders to three runs (one earned), allowing six hits with no walks and 11 strkeouts in seven innings of work.  The Cougar batters had eight hits in the game with Yousanny Herrera-Valdes and Tate Daniels each with two hits with Herrera-Valdes stroking a triple and scoring two runs.  Jaccob Ropbinson had a double and would join both Herrera-Valdes and Daniels with two RBIs.  Caden Smith would stroke a solo home run.

Owen Clark would get the win in the second game with six innings of four hit ball, allowing only the single run with eight strikeouts and no walks.  J.D. Day would have a "day" at the plate as he had two hits with 6 RBIs which included a game ending grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Stokes Needham, Ryan McCarthy, and Courtney Payne each had two hits in the game with Payne driving in two runs.
