Cleveland State Victorious Versus Vincennes
Cleveland State baseball won their rubber match 9-5 versus Vincennes University this afternoon.
The Cougars fell behind early, but their bats and relief pitching powered the comeback.
The Trailblazers scored three in the top of the first. Cleveland State matched with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Vincennes then scored another two in the top of the second, but were unable to plate another run the rest of the game.
The Cougars bullpen shutout the Trailblazers in the final seven innings striking out 11 while walking four and allowing seven hits. Brycen Denton earned the victory pitching three no hit innings striking out three while walking two.
Catcher Cannon Stafford led the way hitting going 3-4 driving in three runs. Second baseman Drake Randolph drove in two runs. First baseman A.J. Swader went 2-4 scoring three times. And centerfielder Bryce Burkey went 2-4 scoring twice.
Cleveland State will travel for games the next two weeks. They play next at Georgia Highlands College Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 3 pm.
