Cleveland State (8-9) traveled to Gordon State (11-12) for a mid-week game on Tuesday and were hammered 17 to 7.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with a single run in the first inning. Cannon Stafford got the offense going with a two out double and was driven in by Riley Orr's single to centerfield. They added three more runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run home run by Jacob Robinson.
The Cougars held a 4-3 lead going into the sixth inning, but Gordon Stat's offense came to life scoring 10 runs on nine hits and two walks to take a 13-4 lead. The Cougars added three runs in the seventh on three hits and three walks, before Gordon State add three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Cougars jump back into TCCAA play on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Jackson State for a three-game series.
