Cleveland State head baseball coach and athletic director, Mike Policastro, notched another milestone under his belt today with his one thousandth career win in the Cougars first of two victories Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier this year, Policastro was inducted into the Tennessee Baseball Hall of Fame.

"It's a great accomplishment.  I appreciate all the teams, players and our assistant coaches that I have had the privilege to coach and work with as well as Tennessee Wesleyan and Cleveland State for allowing me to coach at both schools," Policastro said.

The Cougars hosted BCA from Knoxville on Wednesday in a double header, taking game one 5-0 and game two 8-4.

Freshman Connor O'Donnell started the day pitching a complete game shutout striking out eight allowing four hits and walking one.

"In game one, Conner was in control all game, and he had to be until we were able to put up a crooked number," Policastro said.

Sophomore third baseman, Jacob Robinson, drove in freshman catcher, Cannon Stafford, on a sacrifice fly for the game's first run in the fourth inning.  The Cougars put up another four runs in the sixth inning led by sophomore designated hitter Brandon LeJeune's three run homer. 

LeJeune also earned the victory pitching in game two of Wednesday's double header, throwing one, striking out two and allowing one hit.

The Cougars were down 4-3 after four innings before putting up five runs in the fifth. 

"We were able to get a couple of big hits when we needed them," Policastro said.

Cleveland State hosts Dyersburg State in a three-game series to start conference play this weekend.  A double header is schedule Saturday with first pitch at noon.  Game three will be Sunday with first pitch also scheduled for noon.
