Cleveland State (14-9, 5-2) swept their double header against the Roane State Raiders (9-22, 1-7) this afternoon at Cougar Field.

The Cougars took game one 7-0 and held on to take a 5-3 victory in game two.

"Getting the sweep today was big," head coach Mike Policastro said. "Our starting pitchers did a great job getting us zeros early.  They were both in command and our bullpen closed out game two."

In game one Cooper Casteel (5-0) pitched a complete game one hitter striking out nine while walking three. 

First baseman Riley Orr put Cleveland State on the board first driving in second baseman Jaylen Jones.

Catcher Ryan Stephens drove in two runs on a bases loaded single in the fourth inning. 

Jones scored again in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from third baseman Jacob Robinson.

Left fielder Bryson Trammel double in the sixth inning bringing pinch hitter A.J. Swader to the plate. 

Carter Fink (4-1) started game two earning the victory striking out four batters allowing three runs on four hits while walking no batters. 

Catcher Avery Collins doubled driving in shortstop Rhett Hammontree for the game's first run in the second inning.

Robinson hit a two-run blast in the third inning to give the Cougars a 5-0 lead.

Roane State put together a comeback scoring a combined three runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but Cleveland State's bullpen shut the door on the Raiders.

Brycen Denton pitched one shutout inning in relief allowing one run and striking out two.  Ben Norton earned the save throwing the final inning striking out one.

The final game of the three-game series is tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
