The women's basketball team remains winless on the road.

Cleveland State (4-3, 2-2) went to Calhoun Community College for a rematch from earlier in the season, but this time the Cougars came away with a loss.

"We struggled on both ends of the floor and Calhoun took advantage of that," head coach Lisa Phillips said.

The Cougars shot 28.3 percent from the field while the Warhawks shot 44.2 percent. Cleveland State also committed 30 turnovers compared to Calhoun's 15.

The Warhawks were up nine points after the first quarter and didn't allow the Cougars to get in the game, although Cleveland State did put together a well-played fourth quarter.

"I thought in the fourth quarter we had some great stops defensively and were more efficient on the offensive side of the court," Phillips said. "We will continue to focus on just being a better team."

Cleveland State's Derriona Salter scored a team high 13 points while Mackenzie Brenier also put up double figures with 11.

Calhoun Community College had four players score in double figures with Tashanti Watkins leading the way with 17. Watkins also grabbed a game high 14 rebounds. Her and Dominique Owens each finished the game with a double-double.

Cleveland State and the Warhawks split their home-and-home season series. The Cougars won their first game against Calhoun on November 7, 59-55.

The Cougars will be back in action two more times this calendar year before taking off for winter breaker leading into the second half of their season.

Cleveland State will face Wallace State Community College-Hanceville at home this Tuesday, December 12 with tip-off at 5:30 p.m. The two will meet again at Wallace State Community College on Saturday, December 16.
