Jackson State pulled away in the second half to take a conference victory over the Cougars.

Cleveland State (4-6, 2-3) was down two points at halftime, but the Green Jays (8-1, 4-1) put together a 40-point second half to secure the 73-59 win.

Latisha Parris scored a team and season high 21 points for the Cougars. Jordan McCullough also scored in double figures putting in 14 to go along with 7 rebounds. Jarnyria Maddox and Mackenzie Brenier each secured double digits in rebounds.

Jackson State was without the conference's second leading scorer Timia Lawson, but Keria McGhee stepped up scoring a game-high 22 points to help her move into the top five in points scored in the conference.

The Green Jays had four players score in double figures including Bailey Lee that finished with a 10 point and 12 rebound double-double.  Talyia Cawthon added 10 steals that helped contribute to the Cougars turning it over 27 times compared to the Green Jays 14 turnovers. 

Cleveland State will play again against Jackson State this time hosting the Green Jays on Saturday, February 17.

The Cougars are currently on a four-game losing streak and look to snap their skid when they return home for their next game hosting Roane State (11-5, 2-3) this Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
