The Cougars couldn't hold off Roane State this evening.

At halftime Cleveland State (7-12, 5-9) was up five, but the Raiders (15-10, 6-8) roared back in the second half taking a 62-54 victory.

The loss drops the Cougars out of the top five, but they will get a second shot at Roane State later this week in hopes to jump the Raiders again in the conference standings.

Roane State shot over 10 percent better from the field and from behind the three-point line compared to Cleveland State.

The Raiders boast the leading scorer in the conference in Addison Oliver and she scored 16 on the night. The conference's top three-point shooter Jayla Cobb was on from behind the arc going 5-7 and scoring a game high 25 points.

Cleveland State had three players score in double figures with Jordan McCullough leading the way with 15. Jarnyria Maddox was a rebound away from a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Latisha Parris added 11 points of her own.

The Cougars travel to Roane State looking for revenge at their place this Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
