The Cougars couldn't get much going tonight against the Senators defense.

Cleveland State (6-9, 4-6) could only muster double digits in scoring in the first quarter, losing to Walters State (12-6, 9-2) 66-29.

The Senators jumped out to a 25-12 lead after the first quarter and were up by 26 points at halftime.

Cleveland State did keep it closer in the second half, but couldn't get past Walters State stifling defense. The Cougars are now on a three-game losing streak.

On the night only Mackenzie Brenier got into double figures in scoring putting in ten points. She also brought down 13 rebounds to give her a double-double.

For the Senators three players scored in double figures with the conference's fifth leading scorer Kyra Perkins leading the way with 21 points. Briontanay Marshall put together a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards.

Next up for the Cougars is a road game at last place Volunteer State (3-19, 2-9) this Saturday, a team they beat by 24 points at home back on December 2. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
