Women’s Basketball Wins Conference Home Game vs Motlow State

Cleveland State jumped off to a 12 point first quarter lead vs conference foe Motlow State and never looked back winning 87-48 on Wednesday January 18 in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium.  In winning their sixth conference game in a row the Cougars now stand with a 6-2 conference record and an overall mark of 9-4.   

 

Scoring over 20 points in three out of four quarters each of the Cougar starters scored in double figures; Laney Bone led the way with 18 followed by Tionna Baker and Destiny Remy each with 17.  Latisha Parris hit for 16 and Anika Smith tossed in 11.  Cleveland State outrebounded Motlow 50-39 with Bone clearing the boards with a game high 15.

 

The Cougars swarming style of play featured Parris who had five assists and seven steals while Smith went 3-for-3 from the three-point line.

 

With 10 games remaining in the regular schedule, all conference contests, Cleveland State hits the road on Saturday January 21 to play Columbia State at 3:00 p.m. EST.  Currently Columbia has a conference record of 1-6.
