Women’s Basketball Wins Home Conference Game vs Southwest TN

In a low scoring home conference game the Cleveland State women bested Southwest Tennessee 51-44 on Saturday January 28 moving their conference record to 9-2 and overall mark to 12-4.  The win was their eighth conference win in a row.

 

Laney Bone led the way for the Cougars scoring 16, pulling down 10 boards with five steals and three blocks.  Anika Smith tossed in 12 and grabbed nine rebounds while Latisha Parrish was good for 10 boards and seven points. 

 

On the game the Cleveland State out rebounded Southwest 57-51 as Destiny Remy rebounded eight while scoring six and Derionna Salter pulled down five and scored eight. The Cougars doubled up the Salukis in shot attempts 90-45.  Tenacious on defense Cleveland forced 30 Southwest turnovers while only losing the ball 12 times.

 

Wednesday February 1 Cleveland State travels to Morristown Tennessee to play first place Walters State at 5:30 p.m.  Currently Walters is undefeated in conference play at 10-0.
