Women’s Basketball Wins Final Regular Season Game vs Columbia State

Cleveland State moved back into second place in the TCCAA standings winning their final regular season contest at home vs Columbia State 77-59 on Saturday February 25.  Closing out with a conference mark of 14-4 and an overall record of 17-6 the Cougars await the final results of the Chattanooga State/Volunteer State game that will determine their final ranking for the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament.

 

Running off to a 26-11 first quarter lead Cleveland State would never look back as they were led by Tionna Baker who tossed in a game high 25 points shooting 7-for-15 from the field and eight of 11 from the Free Throw line.  Baker and Laney Bone tied in rebounding with eight each while Baker and Latisha Parris each handed out four assists.

 

Bone had 14 points, Destiny Remy went for 11, Anika Smith had 8 while Parris and Derriona Salter were good for seven each.  From the field the Cougars out shot Columbia 46.8% to 39.5%.

 

The Cougars now wait and prepare for the initial end of the season rankings that will set the March 3-March 7 schedule for the Region Tournament to be hosted by Roane State Community College in Harriman Tennessee.
