On Friday, February 18 Cleveland State (4-2) hopped off the bus at Millington TN and proceeded to take game one of a two day, four game schedule 7-5 over Heartland Community College. The Cougars used a 9-hit attack, scoring five in the 1st inning and then one each in the 6th and 7th.
Designated hitter Jacob Robinson doubled home three in the 1st and would later score on a wild pitch. Robinson would come back in the 7th and blast a homerun following a 6th inning home run by Cougar catcher Parker Evans.
Daniel Crabtree pitched 5.1 innings, striking out six in moving his season record to 2-0. Ben Smith pitched 0.2 innings setting up Bryce Houghton who earned his 3rd save on the young season.
Bryce Burkey joined Robinson and Parker each with two hits, while Bryce Jenkins, Brandon LeJeune and Rhett Hammontree each contributed a hit.
The Cougars are scheduled to play later in the evening on February 18 vs Iowa Central Community College.
