Cleveland State (7-4) won both ends of a doubleheader 10-2 and 10-1 on Tuesday against Maryville College.  The Cougars used a barrage of hits in both games to take both games.

Ben Smith started the first game, winning his second of the season, pitching three innings and striking out four.  Javier Favela followed, K'd three in two innings while Dayton Wisely finished the game with two scoreless innings of no-hit ball.

The Cougars 10-hit attack included a solo home run in the fourth inning by Jaylen Jones, and a 3-run blast by Bryce Burkey in the seventh.  Jones added two more hits giving him a total of three on the day while Andre Tarvere and Rhett Hammontree each had had two in the game.  Bryson Lofton and AJ Swader had one each in the team total.  Jones joined Burkey with 3 RBIs of his while Swader and Lofton had two and one RBI.

Game two saw Cleveland State put another 10-spot on the board as they used eleven hits including a two-run homer by Brandon LeJeune in the 2nd inning increasing the lead to 7-0.  Jake Smith started and went three innings, strking out four, winning his first game of the year.  Trey Scott and Bryce Houghton eached pitched one scoreless of the five inning game while striking out two each.

Joining LeJeune in the hit parade were Colby Taylor with three hits.  Jacob Robinson and Carson Strovinskas with two each while Tate Daniels, Nick Iezzi, and Cameron Campbell each had one.

Taylor, Robinson, and LeJeune each had a stolen base and two RBIs each.  Campbell and Matt Schultz each had an RBI to round out the scoring.

Cleveland State comes home to play a doubleheader vs. Edison Community College on Saturday, February 26, with games times set for 12:00 and 2:30 p.m. EST.  Homes games are played on campus of Cleveland State with an admission charge of $8 per person.
