Cougar baseball jumped back on the winning track on March 9 by taking two from BCA, 12-2 and 8-2 moving their overall record to 13-7 as they prepared themselves to host Jackson State in a conference three game series on March 11 and 12. Cleveland State scored runs in all but two innings in the two combined games, maximizing their hits by scoring a total of 20 runs on 16 hits.
In game one starter Ben Smith moved his record to 3-0 by throwing three shutout innings followed by Jake Smith and Drake Holland going one each in the five-inning 12-2 victory. Bryce Burkey and Andre Tarver with three hits each spearheaded the Cougars 11 hit attack that saw Jacob Robinson rap out two hits followed by one hit each from Avery Collins, Rhett Hammontree and Matt Schultz. Robinson added three RBI's while Burkey, Tarver, Schultz and Colby Tayler each had two. For good measure the Cougars also stole three bases.
Cleveland State used five hits including a second inning home run from Hunter Gray to win game two 8-2. Taylor added two hits and two RBI's along with one hit each from Robinson and Schultz. Robinson added three RBI's to give him six on the day. Carson Strovinskas ended the scoring in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly.
