Game One Recap

Cleveland State started their three-game series with Columbia State taking a 10-3 loss on Friday April 8 on a day when the temperatures hovered in the low 40's with winds gusting 15-25 mph.  Jumping off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning the Cougars saw their lead quickly disappear when Columbia scored four in the second inning and never looked back.

On the game Cleveland State generated five hits, two by Jaylen Jones and one each by Bryce Jenkins, Yosuany Herrera and Ryan Stephens.

Game Two Recap

A brighter and warmer day on Saturday April 9 started Cleveland State off with different results as starter Bryce Jenkins won his fourth game of the season holding Columbia to three hits while striking out 11.  

Columbia started their half of the fourth inning scoring two unearned runs with the Cougars answering with single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings for the eventual 3-2 win.  Cleveland had five hits on the game including doubles from Jenkins, Herrera and Rhett Hammontree and singles from Bryce Burkey and Jenkins. Jenkins, Hammontree and Avery Collins drove in the Cougar runs.

Game Three Recap

In the rubber game of the series the Cougars managed four hits while giving up six runs in the third inning breaking open the scoreless game leading to the 8-1 loss. Cleveland State's lone run came in the sixth.

Bryce Burkey had two singles on the game while Jacob Robinson chipped in with a double and Jaylen Jones lashed out a triple.

What's Next

Cleveland State stands with an overall record and conference mark of 22-17 and 7-10.  Currently the Cougars are scheduled to play a midweek doubleheader at Carson-Newman on Wednesday April 13 with start times set for 1 and 3 p.m. EST.
