Game One Recap
A hit onslaught of 20 for the Cleveland State baseball team in game one vs Southwest Tennessee on Thursday April 28 set the stage for a seven-inning 15-7 win as Owen Clark won his fifth game of the season tossing 5.1 innings with Daniel Crabtree finishing with 1.2 innings of shutout relief pitching.
The Cougars scored runs in six out of the seven innings, scoring three in the bottom of the first inning after Southwest scored four runs to start the game. Andre Tarver led the Cleveland State hitting attack going a perfect 4-for-4 while driving in three runs. Rhett Hammontree drove in another three while Jaylen Jones, AJ Swader and Brandon LeJeune had two RBI's each with Swader's two coming of a two-run homer.
Jones, Swader and LeJeune each had three hits while Bryce Jenkins, Avery Collins and Bryce Burkey had two hits each with Hammontree chipping in with one. The Cougars aided their offense running wild on the bases stealing seven with Jenkins and Jones swiping two each with LeJeune, Tarver and Burkey each stealing one.

Cougar baseball with an overall record of 27-21 and a conference mark of 10-14 conclude the 2022 regular season and their three-game series vs Southwest Tennessee with a Friday's April 29 doubleheader at 12 and 3 p.m. EST. Head Coach Mike Policastro and his coaching staff will give special recognition to the sophomore Cougars prior to the start of the first game.
