Jaylen Jones started off the game with a solo homerun for a 1-0 lead followed by five runs in the fourth inning and one in the seventh for the final 7-0 win. Jones ended the day with two RBI's and was joined by Ryan Stephens who had two hits and two RBI's. Rhett Hammontree had two hits and one RBI while Andre Tarver had one hit to give the Cougars six hits on the game.
Undoubtedly the star of the game was starting pitcher Bryce Jenkins who won his third game of the season, tossing six innings, striking out 10 while giving up one hit. Brett Varner pitched two scoreless innings with Bryce Houghton finishing the game with another scoreless frame. All total Cougar pitching give up just two hits in the win.
Cleveland State's next conference games are a three-game series vs Motlow State with a nine-inning game scheduled on Friday March 25 with a start time of 2 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday March 26 at 12 and 2 p.m. Games are played at Cougar Baseball Field on the Campus of Cleveland State. Admission charge is $8 per person.
