Game one featured the pitching of Daniel Crabtree who went the distance in the seven-inning game to win his fifth game of the year while striking out five. Crabtree scattered seven hits in the game and did not walk a batter.
The Cougars scored runs in the first, fourth and fifth inning giving them the five they used to win the game 5-3. Cleveland State batters would slash seven hits on the game led by Colby Taylor and Avery Collins with two hits each followed by Bryce Jenkins, Jaylen Jones and Hunter Gray each with one hit. Collins had two RBI's while Jones, Andre Tarver and Jacob Robinson drove home the other three.
Jenkins and Jones had two stolen bases each as the Cougars played fundamentally sound without committing an error.
Owen Clark started and went six strong innings in game two, striking out seven in winning his second game of the season. Cleveland State scored in five out of the first six innings, parlaying a Jones three-run homer and a Brandon LeJeune two-run homer in the fifth that led to six runs in the fifth. Tarver started the 10-hit slugfest in the first inning with a solo homerun to start the Cougars off to a 1-0 lead that they would never relinquish in the 11-4 win.
Tarver led the way with two hits while Jenkins, Jones, Matt Schultz, Robinson, LeJeune, Gray, Hunter Strovinskas and Rhett Hammontree each had one. Jenkins added another stolen base on the day to go along with the seven extra base hits by the Cougars.
Cleveland State finishes the three-game conference series vs Roane State on Sunday March 20 with a nine-inning game set to begin at 1 p.m.
