In game one the Cougars scored two in the second inning and two in the third inning to score all the runs they would need.  Cleveland State had eight hits in the game as Jacob Robinson hit a two run homerun in the third while Bryce Burkey had two hits and one RBI to add to the total.  Cougars with one hit each included Bryce Jenkins, Jaylen Jones, Andre Tarver, Colby Taylor and Hunter Gray.

 

Daniel Crabtree won his fourth game of the season, pitching five strong innings, striking out four.  Dayton Wisley who hasn't given up a run all season pitched one inning in relief and was followed by Bryce Houghton who earned his fourth save while pitching one inning of scoreless ball.

 

Cleveland State showcased the pitching of starter Owen Clark who struck out 12 in six innings, taking the win in the second game.  Brett Varner ended the game with one inning in relief while earning a save.

 

As in game one the Cougars used two innings to score all four runs as they banged out nine hits on the game.  Taylor and Gray led the way with two hits each while Jenkins, Jones, Tarver, Robinson and Parker Evans each had one.  Robinson's hit, a double, drove in two runs in the third inning while in the fifth Tarver doubled home a run and Robinson knocked in another with a sacrifice fly.

 

Cleveland State is scheduled to host Jackson in a final contest of the three game series on Saturday March 12 with a 1 p.m. start.
