The Lady Cougars volleyball team traveled to Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene yesterday evening.
Cleveland State (1-7, 0-2) lost the match 3-0, but managed to keep it close in each set, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-21.
"It was a well fought match," head coach Alizabeth Atnip said. "I'm very pleased with how our defense played."
Ella Johnson led the Cougars attack with eight kills while also contributing nine assists and pulling out 11 digs. Defensive specialist Ryleigh McGinnis put together 12 assists while libero Taylor Hancock pulled out an impressive 22 digs in the match.
Cleveland State will travel Tuesday to cross town rival Chattanooga State (3-3, 0-0) for a conference match. The Cougars look for revenge after being swept in all four matches last year by the Lady Tigers. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
