Cougars Volleyball Loses Fifth Straight Match
Cleveland State volleyball dropped their fifth straight match last night.
The Cougars (1-8, 0-3) went to Chattanooga State (4-3, 1-0) and lost in straight sets 25-13, 25-11 and 25-20.
"Tough day for the team," head coach Alizabeth Atnip said. "Our defense and hustle was there, but we just didn't have enough to dig out of holes against their tough servers."
Some bright spots for the Cougars were Taylor Hancock with three service aces and 15 digs. Jazlyn Butler added 13 digs of her own.
Samantha Daniels led the team with six kills while Kaydence Houston and Alyssa Cate each contributed four kills in the match. And Ella Johnson impressed with 16 assists.
Cleveland State returns home this Thursday to L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium for just the second time this season and will host Bryan College in a rematch from earlier this season where the Cougars lost a close match 3-2. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
