Cougars Drop Home Match Against Walters State

Cleveland State volleyball is still looking for their first home victory on the year.

Last night the Cougars lost in straight sets to Walters State (15-6, 3-1) 25-8, 25-17 and 25-17.

"Defense showed up tonight," head coach Alizabeth Atnip said. "We extended a lot of rallies and really passed up great balls. Both setters were all over the court."

Ryleigh McGinnis and Ella Johnson each put together six assists on the evening.

Kaydence Houston led the team in kills with five while Alyssa Cate wasn't far behind with four.

Libero Taylor Hancock once again kept Cleveland State (1-11, 0-4) in the matches defensively with 17 digs while Johnson added 10 digs of her own.

"Overall a lot of hustle seen out of the team in tonight's loss," Atnip said.

The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday hosting Pellissippi State (1-3, 1-3). The Cougars lost on the road in their first meeting this season 3-2. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
