Cougar Softball, opened up their 2022 Spring season today in a double header vs a 1 and 7 Georgia Highlands; at Cougar Field. Opening Day wasn't the outcome they hoped for. However, with the talent the Cougars hold there is a lot of hope for this team.

 The Cougars had 18 hits and lead the Chargers 9 to 3 in the first game. Until, A few key homeruns by Georgia Highlands put them a top Cleveland 11-10.

Freshman Catcher, Hope Ingle went 2 for 5 with a HR, double and 3 RBI's. With teammates, Freshman Right Fielder Carlynn Atamaniuk going 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's, Sophomore Center Fielder Makala Strickland going 1 for 4, Freshman First Baseman Shelby Sullivan going 3 for 4 with 1 RBI, Freshman Emily Higgins going 3 for 4 with 1 RBI, Sophomore, Madison Miner 1 for 3 including a double, Freshman Short Stop Avery Weeks going 2 for 3 and Sophomore Left Fielder Lexi Vogel 2 for 4.  Sophomore Pitcher, Hannah Thrasher took the Loss for the Cougars.

Game Two, the Cougars couldn't find their rhythm and could only put together 7 hits. Falling to the Chargers 10 to 2.

Hope Ingle going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's, Makala Strickland, Shelby Sullivan, Emily Higgins, Eden Frazier, and Lexi Vogel all with one hit apiece.  Freshman, Hadley Burnette took the loss for the Cougars.

The 0-2 Cougars will be back in action Friday, February 11 with a start time of 12 and 2 pm EST, as the Calhoun Lady Warhawks out of Decatur, AL come to Cougar Field.
