In game one Emily Higgins pitched a three-hit shutout winning her second game of the season while striking out three. The Cougars had eight hits on the game, two each by Carlynn Atamaniuk, Makala Strickland and Lexi Vogel with one each coming off the bat of Bailee Phillips and Sarah Morris.
Down 3-0 in game two Strickland hit back-to-back inning three-run homers in the third and fourth to finally ignite the Cougar bats leading to the five-inning win. Hope Ingle's second hit of the game, a two-run homerun in the fifth, started the four-run rally to end the game. Joining Ingle in the Cleveland hit parade with two hits each were Atamaniuk, Strickland and Higgins followed by Shelby Sullivan who had one.
Hannah Thrasher started for the Cougars and went the distance for her first win of the season while striking out nine.
Cleveland State jumps back into conference play, traveling to Roane State on Friday March 18 and Saturday March 19 playing scheduled doubleheaders on both days.
