Game One Recap

After loading the bases in the first inning and failing to score, Cleveland State used the long ball to score seven runs in the third and forth innings to take a 7-0 lead.  Makala Strickland hit a two-run homer in the second and Hope Ingle hit a grand slam in the fourth only to be followed by Strickland who cracked another homerun.

In Friday's March 25 win over Motlow the Cougars used an 11-hit attacked led by Ingle and Strickland with their homeruns and two hits each from Carlynn Atamaniuk, Shelby Sullivan who had two RBI's and Lexi Vogel.  Madison Miner and Bailee Phillips chipped in with one hit each.

Cleveland State starter Bailee Phillips won her seventh game of the season, scattering eight hits while striking out six, winning 9-2.

Game Two Recap

Strickland was back at it again in game two hitting a solo homerun in the first inning staking the Cougars to a lead they would never lose.  Emily Higgins joined the power parade with a two-run homer in the third as Cleveland State used 10 hits for the final 8-2 win.  Sullivan had two hits along with Higgins and Avary Weeks while Atamaniuk, Sarah Morris and Miner each had one.  

Hadley Burnette and Higgins split the game pitching combining to give up a total of seven hits and two runs.

What's Next

The 15-12 Cougars with a conference record of 7-5 host Motlow State in the final two games of the four-game series on Saturday March 26 with start times of 12 and 2 p.m. EST.  Games are played on the campus of Cleveland State at Cougar Softball field.  Admission is $8 per person to watch both games.
