Cleveland State Softball hosted Calhoun Community College today, Friday Feburary 11 in their second doubleheader of the 2022 season.
Cougar Softball split with Calhoun Community College losing the first game 2-0 while exploding in the second game winning 15-0 in 5 innings.
Carlynn Atamaniuk, Makala Strickland and Shelby Sullivan had one hit each as the Cougars lone scoring opportunity in Game One was in the first inning when Cleveland State moved runners to second and third with one out, but failed to score. Hadley Burnette and Emily Higgins allowed just two runs in the 7 inning contest with Burnette taking her second lose on the young season.
In game two the Cougars banged out 14 hits, scoring four in the 1st, four in the 2nd, three in 3rd and four in the 4th. Bailee Phillips went the 5 inning distance securing the game win in her first start of the season. Sullivan had three hits and three RBI's while Hope Ingle, Higgins, Sarah Morris and Madison Miner each had two. Eden Frazier, Makala Strickland and Lexi Vogel, rounded out the hit attack with one hit each. Higgins and Miner also had three RBI's.
The 1-3 Cougars travel to Boaz Alabama on Tuesday, February 15 to take on Snead State in a doubleheader with game times slated to be at 2 and 4p.m. EST
