Game One Recap

Cleveland State softball lost the first game of a four-game series to Chattanooga State on Friday April 1 as they could only muster three hits in the seven-inning loss.  Down 8-0 in the sixth, Hope Ingle belted a two-run homer driving in Lexi Vogel who had singled with one out in the inning.  Shelby Sullivan started the second inning with a single to left which was one of the Cougar three hits.

 

Game Two Recap

In game two Cougar starting pitcher Hadley Burnette won her fourth game of the season, going the seven-inning distance in the 4-2 win over Chattanooga State.  Cleveland State started the scoring in the first when Sullivan drove home Makala Strickland who had walked and stole second with two out.  The Tigers took the lead 2-1 with single runs in the fourth and fifth but were answered back when the Cougars scored three in their half of the fifth on a two-run single by Bailee Phillips and a Carlynn Atamaniuk run on a wild pitch.

Cleveland State had seven hits on the game one each by Ingle, Atamaniuk, Strickland, Sullivan, Phillips, Madison Miner and Vogel.  Key stolen bases by Strickland and Vogel assisted in the four Cougar runs.

 

What's Next

The Cougars with an overall record of 18-13 and a conference mark of 10-6 faceoff against Chattanooga State in the final doubleheader of the series on Saturday April 2 at 12 and 2 p.m. EST.  Games are played on the campus of Cleveland State at Cougar Softball field.  Admission is $8 per person.
