Game One Recap

 Cougar softball finished game one on Saturday April 2 vs Chattanooga State much the same way as Friday's first game losing and only managing three hits.  Chattanooga started the game with two runs in the first inning with Cleveland State scoring one in the bottom half of their inning on a leadoff double by Hope Ingle who was eventually driven home by a sacrifice off the bat of Makala Strickland.  That was it as the Tigers piled on 12 more runs and won the five-inning game 14-1.  Carlynn Atamaniuk and Sarah Morris joined Ingle with one hit each on the game.

Game Two Recap

 Ingle followed her game one leadoff double with a lead off hit in game two this time with a solo homerun to left field for a quick 1-0 lead.  The Cougars added to the lead in the first as Atamaniuk singled, stole second, advanced to third and was driven home by a sacrifice from Shelby Sullivan.

 The second inning turned in to a scoring affair as Chattanooga scored in the top of the inning to tie the score at two with Cleveland State coming back with a three-run triple from Atamaniuk driving in Madison Miner, Lexi Vogel and Hope Ingle each who singled.  With a 5-2 lead that would be all the runs the Cougars would score and would need for the 5-4 win.

 Chattanooga scored single runs in the third and sixth innings but were held off by scoring more by Cougar starter Hannah Thrasher who went the distance winning her fourth game of the season.  On the game Cleveland State had two hits each from Ingle, Atamaniuk and Vogel while Emily Higgins and Madison Miner each had one.

What's Next

The Cougars with an overall record of 19-14 and a conference mark of 11-7 travel to Columbia Tennessee for two conference doubleheaders vs the Columbia State Lady Chargers.  Game times are set for 3 and 5 p.m. EST on Friday April 8 followed by start times on Saturday April 9 of 1 and 3 p.m. EST.
