Cougar Softball Loses Close Games to Start Conference
Friday March 4 Cougar softball started conference play on the road losing to Dyersburg State 8-5 and 7-6 in nine innings.
 
In game one Cleveland State was not able to overcome a 5-3 deficit with frenzied rally falling short in the sixth inning. Makala Strickland and Madison Miner blasted homeruns while Sarah Morris had two of the Cougar's seven hits. Hope Ingle, Eden Frazier and Emily Higgins had one hit each.
 
With leads in three different innings the Cougars were unable to close out a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning losing in the ninth inning 7-6 In game two.  With twelve hits on the game, Ingle and Frazier had three each while Miner had two.  Strickland, Morris, Avary Weeks and Lexi Vogel each had one.
 
Cleveland State with an overall record of 4-9 and a conference mark of 0-2 closes out the four-game series with Dyersburg on Saturday March 5. Game times are set at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CST.
