Softball Loses First Conference Series - Cleveland State Community College - Cleveland State Community College

Softball Loses First Conference Series

Saturday March 5 Cleveland State Softball (4-11, 0-4) finished their first conference series of the 2022 season losing a doubleheader to Dyersburg State 6-5 and 7-0.  The Cougars played three out of the four games close but were never able to get the key hit or key out to win a game.

Down 5-2 in the seventh inning of game one Cleveland State pushed across three runs highlighted by a three run homer by Emily Higgins to tie the score at five.  In the bottom of the seventh, Dyersburg scored a run to win a second game of the series in their last at bat.

Hope Ingle led the way hitting going 4-for-4 on the game including two doubles.  Carlynn Atamaniuk, Makala Strickland and Lexi Vogel had two hits each while Bailee Phillips rounded out the 12 hit attack with a double.

In the 7-0 loss in game two, the Cougar bats went silent as they only had two hits, one each by Strickland and Higgins.

Cleveland State looks to get back on the winning track with an out of town doubleheader at Georgia Highlands scheduled for Thursday March 10 followed by a home conference series vs. Jackson State set for Friday March 11 and Saturday March 12.
