Men’s Basketball Rebounds Way Into the Win Column

The Cougar Men rebounded their way in to their first win of the season beating Tennessee Valley Prep 71-61 in a home contest on Saturday November 5.  Center Michael Johnson was all over the Key pulling down 17 of the 45 Cleveland State rebounds.  Valley Prep was far off the pace losing in rebounds by 13.

 

Cleveland State Guards Joshua Horn and Jarrod Taylor scored in double figures tossing in 16 and 14 points.  Johnson had 9 while Tre Chatman had 8.  Up by two at half the Cougars used a scrambling defense along with tenacious rebounding to pull away for the eventual win.  Along with leading in game scoring Horn grabbed 8 rebounds.

 

All total Cleveland State recorded 74 shots while Prep attempted 63.  Horn and Tra'Von Bass each had three steals with Horn leading the way in assists with three.

 

Wednesday November 9 at 7:30 p.m. the 1-1 Cougar Men start conference play hosting the 3-0 Chattanooga State Tigers in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on the campus of Cleveland State.  This begins a four-game conference schedule vs Southwest Tennessee in Memphis, home against Walters State and a Volunteer State road game.  

 

For all games at Cleveland State there is an Admission of $8 per person charge for the public with no charge for Cleveland State students.
