Men’s Basketball Loses Close Contest to Columbia State

Cleveland State's K'Juan Banks with 17 points and eight rebounds led the Cougars to a 69-66 win over conference foe Jackson State on Saturday December 3 giving them an overall record of 4-5 and conference mark of 3-2.  The win move Cleveland State into a fourth place tie in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association placing them half a game out of third.

 

Damon Fann scored 11 while hitting three crucial 3-point shots as the Cougars withstood the second half charge of Jackson.  With a nine point lead at the half the steady scoring of Joshua Horn and Jarrod Taylor with 10 each, Caleb Chapman's all out hustle grabbing 10 boards while dropping in 8 points along with Banks held Jackson off for the eventual win.

 

The Cougars outrebound Jackson 41 to 34 and had six more assists totaling 14 on the game.

 

Cleveland State's next game is a road contest vs Snead State on Monday December 12 at 8:30 p.m. EST.  The Cougars look to even the series with Snead after taking an open season loss of 79-64.
