Men’s Basketball Loses Home Conference Game to Dyersburg

At home on Saturday January 14 Cleveland State lost a hard-fought conference game to Dyersburg State 76-70.  The loss moved the Cougar conference record to 3-4 with an overall mark of 4-9.

 

Down by one at the half 34-33 Cleveland State in the back and forth contest went up by one with five minutes to play.  At the four minute mark Dyersburg had worked their way to a one point lead and never lost it eventually winning by six.

 

On the game the Cougars had three players in double figures led by Caleb Chapman with 16, Damon Fann at 15 along with Michael Johnson who had 14.  Out rebounding Dyersburg by 10 Chapman pulled down 13 boards, Johnson grabbed eight while Joshua Horn had seven.  Slade "Tre" Chatman had five of the Cougar 14 assists in helping the Cougars win the team assist stat by two.

 

Cleveland State's next home game is set for Wednesday January 18 at 7:30 p.m. vs conference rival Motlow State.  Currently, Motlow's Conference record is 1-5.

 

Cougar home games are played in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on the campus of Cleveland State.  Admission charge for the public is $8 per person.  There is no charge for Cleveland State students.
