Men’s Basketball Loses Close Conference Game to Volunteer

Saturday February 4 the Cougar Men were outscored by two points each half losing a low scoring conference game to Volunteer State 57-53.  With a 4-9 conference record Cleveland State is positioned in seventh place.

 

K'Juan Banks led the Cougars scoring 15 points while pulling down nine of the team's 30 rebounds.  Damon Fann was the only other Cougar who hit double figures as he went for 10.  Joshua Horn had eight points while Jarrod Taylor and Nikolas Ellis had six and five respectively. 

 

Cleveland State shot 38.8% from the field while the Pioneers hit on 47.6%.  From the charity strip the Cougars were 13-for-19 and Volunteer was 14-for-24.  Taylor and Horn each made four.

 

With an entire week dedicated to practice Cleveland State's next game is a road conference matchup vs Jackson State on Saturday February 11 with start time set for 5:00 p.m.   Currently Jackson is in last place with a record of 1-11.
