Men’s Basketball Starts with Convincing Win at TCCAA Tournament

With the season finishing this week, the teams will convene on the campus of Roane State for the 2022-23 NJCAA Region VII/TCCAA Tournment set to begin this Friday with a slate of three games.  Seeding for the tournament still needs to be finalized, but action will get underway with a noon matchup on the women's side and the first two games of the men's tournamentat 2 & 4pm.  All game times are EST.

The Lady Senators of Walters State holds the top seed on the women's side and will be the first game on Saturday's slate of games in a quarterfinal matchup of the either the Columbia State Lady Chargers or the Volunteer State Lady Pioneers.  Those two teams will meet in the Friday noon matchup.  The host Lady Raiders of Roane State will take on the Dyersburg Lady Eagles in matchup of the #4 & #5 seeds at 2pm.  The 4pm contest will see the #2 seed Chattanooga State Lady Tigers taking on the #7 seed Lady Green Jays of Jackson State.  The final game of the evening will be the #3/#6 matchup of the Lady Cougars of Cleveland State and the Lady aluquis of Southwest Tennessee.  The winners will advance the semifinals on Monday at noon and 2pm.  The championship game will be Tuesday with a 2 pm start.

The men's tournament wil begin on Friday with two playin games. The Cougars of Cleveland State will be in the 2pm game.

Roane State Community College (RSCC) will host the TCCAA / NJCAA Region VII Basketball Tournament, March 3-7, 2023, at the college's main campus in Roane County.

Men's and Women's teams from ten Tennessee community colleges will be competing for the TCCAA / NJCAA Region VII Championship. Winners will advance to the NJCAA Division I Basketball Championships held in Lubbock, Texas, (Women's team) and Hutchinson, Kansas (Men's team). Teams in the Region VII tournament include Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, Columbia State, Dyersburg State, Jackson State, Motlow State, Roane State, Southwest Tennessee, Vol State, and Walters State.

The tournament will be held in the RSCC gymnasium. The tournament schedule will begin on Friday, March 3, at 12pm Eastern. Concessions, event programs and merchandise will be available for purchase during the tournament.

  • Admission will be $10 per day per person or $30 per person for a tournament pass.
  • Roane State students and employees qualify for free admission to the tournament (college ID must be shown).
  • Children age 12 and under will be admitted for free. 
  • All other K-12 and college students will receive discounted admission of $5.
