Men’s Basketball Loses Close Contest to Columbia State

After winning two conference games in a row the Cougar men lost on the road Saturday November 19 to Volunteer State 75-60 to push their conference record to 2-2 and overall mark to 3-3.  Cleveland State Head Coach Rafael Howard put it succinctly saying: "We didn't come to play."

Joshua Horn and Damon Fann led the Cougars in scoring with 18 and 13 points respectively.  Caleb Chapman pulled down 5 rebounds followed by Horn and K'Juan Banks each with four.

Having come off a home win vs Walters State Coach Howard finished his assessment of the Vol game with this evaluation: "We couldn't make enough defensive plays to give ourselves a chance.  Our effort and energy were inconsistent on both sides of the ball. We didn't earn the right to win.  To get ready for Gadsden next week we'll watch film and make changes as we hit the practice floor."

The Cougars travel to Wallace State-Hanceville on Friday November 25 to play in a road Thanksgiving tournament. Friday's game vs Gadsden State is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. EST with a game vs Wallace set for Saturday November 26 at 5:00 p.m. EST.
