Men’s Basketball Loses Close Contest to Columbia State

Three Cougar players scored in double figures as Cleveland State outscored Walters State 74-69 in a home conference game on Wednesday November 16.  The win moved the Cougars to a record of 2-1 in conference play and an overall record of 3-2.

 

For the Cougars Jarrod Taylor scored 20, K'Juan Banks tossed in 17 while pulling down 14 boards and Damon Fann hit 16 including four from the 3-point line.  Taylor did much of his damage in the first half scoring 14 in leading Cleveland State to a score of 40-31.  Banks and Fann scored 11 and 10 points of the 34 that the Cougars scored in the second half as Cleveland State withstood a late charge by Walters.

 

Cleveland played effective team basketball with 19 assists on the game led by Joshua Horn who had six and Mark Greer who had five.  On the season it was the Cougars best shooting night from 3-point country as they shot 8-20 from long range.  They continued their hot streak from the charity stripe shooting 68.8% with Banks leading the charge canning 9-10.

 

Cleveland State is back at it quick traveling to Volunteer State on Saturday November 19 to play the Pioneers in a conference game scheduled for 5:00 p.m. EST.
